INICLUB FOODBANK PROGRAM
INICLUB FOODBANK WAREHOUSE, FINANCING AND AGRIPORT
ceEND HUNGER NIGERIA CAMPAIGN
INICLUB® FOODBANK, FOODCOOP WAREHOUSE & SOCIAL ENTERPRISE SUPERMARKET PROGRAM
INTRODUCTION
Iniclub Foodbank (Social Food Supermarket) platform is targeting over 500 productive industries and farmers cooperatives to enroll in an integrated warehouse financing and export model operated under the International Noble Initiative Club (INICLUB®) a social enterprise organization and Business Club membership based having network of secondary and primary cooperatives as well as participating corporate member agricultural value chain industries. Foodbank is a network of franchise service centres for distribution and export of food products. Business Volunteer Members invest their food products and money stock into the program with food credit application through the years. It is targeting above 40 million households, consumers, supermarkets and other distribution centers and other nations through selected food specialties programme of the United Nations and global supermarkets.
Even though the shift from food first relief reflects a change from the conventional view of food as a primary need, below the pyramid needs are focused on building resilience on livelihood based program to ensure that individuals and families have an economic base that allows them access to and consumption of quality food all year round. Avoiding hunger is not a policy priority for rural people faced with famine and economic disadvantage alone: some people choose to go hungry today to have something to eat tomorrow and pay bills. This is a common practice, especially among women, who will skip meals in times of scarcity to provide for others in the family. People going hungry today to avoid going hungry later puts livelihoods at stake, as it focuses on objectives other than nutritional adequacy needs for sustainable growth and community development.
INICLUB FOODBANK MISSION
The mission is to end food shortage and stop hunger by providing financing to farmers and industries within agricultural value chain through syndicated and consolidated trust fund managed by Iniclub Village Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd and Noble Lending Club for growing, collecting, packaging and distributing food products in Nigeria.
INICLUB FOODBANK OPERATIONS
Iniclub goal is to reduce Nigeria food import bill through strategic financing, food collecting, growing, and packaging for distribution through a network of service agencies to our target population groups. The program is designed to actively finance its own food program from local food growers for sales in a coordinated platform through registered retailers, wholesalers, processors and exporters. In addition, Iniclub will supply government school feeding programme with fully paid food donations to schools to selected food vendors and restaurants for immediate distribution to service programs nationwide.
Nigeria food market is growing and a number of school enrolments in the country is expected to boost our food production and boost employment. A number of foodbank programs to help transition these new families into the regions and a number of children who need services from Iniclub will increase per annum. Iniclub is an important resource to food security programs, because we can respond quickly with the one of the most important resources these schools and families need. Food First relief to livelihood!
HOW A FOODBANK WORKS:
1. Food is donated: Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to the foodbank. All food given out by foodbanks is donated. ‘Supermarket Collections’ are one of the main ways that food is donated: volunteers give shoppers a ‘foodbank shopping list’ and ask them to buy an extra item or two for local people in crisis.
2. Food is sorted and stored: Volunteers sort food to check that it’s in date and pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need.
3. Frontline care professionals identify people in need: Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, State and National Emergency Management Agency and police identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher.
4. Clients receive food: Foodbank clients bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for three days emergency food. Volunteers meet clients over a cup of tea or free hot meal and are able to direct people to agencies able to solve the longer-term problem
